The book offers 300+ most frequent NT Greek words
The Greek New Testament has about 5400 unique words. Some appear only once and are called hapax legomena, while others appear many times. When all occurrences are summed up, the Greek NT has 138,020 words. It makes sense to learn more frequent words first because these words appear more often. Thus, the top 300 words (all 50+ occurrences) combined appear 110,236 times. It is 80% of total words in the NT. Learn these 300 words and you will be able to read 80% of the Greek NT.
The book has two word lists:
- By Frequency (pp. 2-11)
- Words come by parts of speech: nouns, verbs, adjectives, conjunctions, and etc.
- Each part of speech lists words from most frequent down to 50th occurrence
- Alphabetically (pp. 12-19)
- This list offers an alphabetical order of words for easier navigation
